Mother of God...could one of the biggest stars in Line of Duty be about to be killed off?
Fans of the BBC anti-corruption police drama fear that AC-12 could lose a major character after Martin Compston, who plays DI Steve Arnott, said tonight’s episode was a “big one”.
Craig Parkinson, who played corrupt cop DI Dot Cottan before he was bumped off, also hinted viewers desperate to find out who the identity of “H” might be shell-shocked.
Greenock-born Martin, 36, who has starred in all six series of the show written by Jed Mercurio, tweeted: “Tomorrow’s the big one, episode 4. On paper one of the best @jed_mercurio has ever written, if we deliver what was there, potential to be a classic.”
The message got fans speculating.
Die hard watchers are anxious Steve, DI Kate Fleming, played by Vicky McClure or Superintendent Ted Hastings, played by Adrian Dunbar, may not make it.
One fan said: “I’m so nervous for this, if one of the three dies I will be bereft.”
Another replied: “Well now I’m terrified, thanks Martin.” And one even nicked one of Hastings’s favourite phrases to share his horror: “Mother of God, if it’s more dramatic than the season three finale I might have to book myself a wee holiday from work for Monday.”
Craig tweeted: “Obviously my lips are sealed but you may need a small breather after episode four on Sunday.”
