Married at First Sight couple 'SPLIT days after tying the knot'

Married at First Sight couple Steph and Jonathan reportedly split up just days after tying the knot on the Channel 4 reality show.

The latest episode saw the couple head off to Spain on their honeymoon, but it’s thought that things went downhill from there, with a source telling The Sun that the pair called it quits “within days”.

“Steph and Jonathan were a disastrous match – everyone knew it, even at the wedding,” the insider told the publication.

“It was over within days and she took her ring off almost straight away.

“They can’t bear to be in the same room as each other now, and don’t communicate.”

The source went on to reveal that the split has “made things really awkward for promoting the show,” as the pair “can’t even sit next to each other or put on a fake smile for interviews”.

“It’s been a nightmare – her friends and family support her, but knew it wouldn’t last,” they said.

Standard Online has contacted a representative for Channel 4 for comment.

After an intense application process in which prospective couples are matched based on compatibility, Married at First Sight sees participants head down the aisle with a complete stranger in the hope of finding true love.

After taking part in a legally binding civil ceremony, the newlyweds then head off on honeymoon before moving in together.

They then have six weeks in which to decide whether to stay married or get a divorce.

All of the couples who have featured in previous series of the UK edition have decided to divorce, giving the show an unenviable zero percent success rate.

Before taking part in the show, property manager Jonathan said that he was looking for “someone active and outdoorsy, who is kind,” while Steph, a nurse, was searching for someone “laidback, funny, kind and logical”.

Married at First Sight is on Channel 4, Wednesday at 9pm
