Marks and Spencer shoppers were divided after the retailer shared what it called the “coat of the season”.
M&S has been getting huge praise lately for its collection of autumn and winter dresses, but this week people couldn’t agree after spotting the new coat, which one person described as “a walking tent”.
Sharing a picture on Facebook and Instagram of the Feather & Down Padded Longline Coat, which is £129 on the M&S website, the retailer said: “@y.a.t.r.i all wrapped up in the coat of the season."

The Per Una coat has long ‘blousen’ sleeves, which can be pushed up to 3/4 length, and a funnel neck with popper and zip fastening for extra protection from the cold.
Some of the people who commented on the coat were quick to praise the look.
Kay Shepherd said: “Love it. Bet it’s warm. A lot of the high street shop are selling these coats. Give me a hot choc to go with it. Winter weather wear”.
Gillian Kirvan Knight added: “Love this coat , I like that it’s long so keeps your whole body cosy and warm”.
Carol Ann Whitehead said: “Absolutely love it”.
And Liz Johnson added: “Looks perfect for watching football games in the park on cold Saturday mornings!!”
But others were clearly not keen.
Ann Patricia Smith said: “I'd look like the Michelin man in this!”
Jane Archbald added: “I think M&S buyers are living on another planet, this coat is atrocious as are many other of their items of clothing.”
Iris Williams said: “A walking tent!! I'm glad it is not only me that doesn't like the new range. I still like to wear heels. Maybe because I'm small.”
Dee Taylor added: “Not a great look”.
Glynis Jane Duggan said: “Most people, including me, would look like they were wearing their duvet, in that.”
And Barbara Rees said: “Sorry but it's not for me.”
