Marks and Spencer goes 'too far' with Pancake Day treat shoppers say is 'vile'

Marks and Spencer shoppers were divided over a "vile" Percy Pig Pancake Day dessert spotted online.

High street giant M&S boasts a huge following across its social media channels. Like many retailers, the store frequently posts product shots to keep shoppers updated on all the newest stock launches.

Recently, the popular retailer caused a stir on its main Instagram account.

To its 1.9 million Instagram followers, Marks and Spencer shared a photo of its Percy Pig pancakes and its corresponding dessert sauce for Pancake Day today.

The retailer's Percy Pig pancakes are pink in colour, with added sweet, fruity flavourings, while its dessert sauce is a blend of raspberry, strawberry, cherry and grape. It can also be added to ice cream, cupcakes, milkshakes and more so it can be enjoyed all year round.

Captioning the image, M&S penned: "Pancake Day just got a whole lot sweeter for all you Percy fans out there! Try topping our perfectly pink Percy Pig pancakes with a dollop of cream, fresh strawberries and raspberries and a generous drizzle of Percy Pig dessert sauce."

The photo racked up just over 1,000 likes on the hit social media platform and shoppers were divided, taking to the comments section to share their thoughts.

Debbie said: "vile".

Ilaria said: "This is too much guys".

Jayne simply said: "No."

Lesley told a friend: "not sure about this one", to which they replied: "Yes the pink pancake looks a bit sickly".

Amanda said: "too far".

Another shopper disagreed and commented: "Those pancakes look amazingly pink good idea for children's desserts."

Christopher tagged a friend and said: "get these in for Tuesday".

Lauren added: "yummy".
