CONTENT WARNING: This article contains graphic descriptions of alleged abuse.

Independent NSW MP Mark Latham has been accused of emotional, psychological, and financial abuse by his former partner, Nathalie Matthews, according to a report by The Australian — claims he strongly denies.

According to the report, application documents filed with the NSW Local Court claim Latham engaged in a pattern of “sustained abuse” over their almost three-year relationship, including pressuring Matthews to have sex with other people, participate in depraved acts, and driving his car at her. Matthews is reportedly seeking an order preventing Latham from going within 100m of her, due to “ongoing, reasonable fear of harassment, intimidation, and potential harm”.

Latham has strongly denied the claims to The Australian. (PEDESTRIAN.TV has also reached out for comment.) He said they were “absolute rubbish” and “comical”, telling the publication via text message that he has not been served, nor has anyone contacted him.

“I haven’t had anything to do with her [Matthews] since 27 May, so nearly seven weeks ago. I ended the ‘situationship’ that night for very good reason,” he told the publication.

According to The Australian, it is understood that Matthews — who gave permission to be identified as part of the report — has taken the allegations to NSW Police, but they have not laid charges or applied for an order on her behalf. PEDESTRIAN.TV is not suggesting the allegations are true.

Matthews’ initial interim order will be heard later this month.

According to the report, Matthews’ application includes allegations of Latham “defecating on me before sex and refusing to let me wash, forcing degrading sexual acts, pressuring me to engage in sexual acts with others, demanding I call him ‘master’, telling me I was his property, and repeatedly telling me that my only value to him was for sex to demean and control me”.

It continued to allege that he engaged in “physical violence, including pushing me against walls, forcing me out the door, throwing a plate at me during an argument, and driving at me with his vehicle, hitting me with the side mirror and causing a bruise”.

She also alleges that she was subject to emotional and psychological abuse, had her devices monitored without her consent, was pressured regarding her father’s will for Latham’s benefit, and was forced to pay for international holidays and expensive purchases under duress.

“The defendant has held intimate photos and videos of me, and I have been afraid he would expose them to shame and control me if I attempted to leave or resist his demands,” she alleges.

Matthews, a Liberal Party member who ran for Sutherland Shire Council in 2021, resigned as the Liberal Party’s Cronulla branch secretary in December last year after four years.

Her case will be heard on July 30, 2025.
