Mark Hamill responds to Ivanka Trump's Star Wars tweet and tells her to #GoForceYourself

Star Wars actor Mark Hamill has called out the Trump family in a Twitter post. Hamill, who plays Luke Skywalker, retweeted a family picture that Ivanka Trump had posted to her account - accompanied by a pointed 'spelling correction.'

Ivanka shared a picture on Sunday of herself and her family at home, which showed herself and her husband Jared Kushner posing in their living room in a suit and gown.

One of the couple's children posed in front of them in a clone trooper costume as their siblings watched on.

Ivanka captioned the post, “The Force is strong with my family.”

More photos of the moment were shared on Instagram with the same caption.

Hamill, who has made no secret of his dislike of the Trumps and particularly Ivanka’s father President Donald Trump, retweeted the picture on his own account. He corrected her, “You misspelled “Fraud.””

He also added the hashtag #GoForceYourself.

Ivanka’s original tweet has amassed 44.1k likes. In comparison, Hamill’s response to her has 380k likes at the time of publication - more than eight times the number her original post attracted.

Hamill was both praised and criticised for his tweet, with one saying that Ivanka “should not even be allowed to utter such a sacred verse” and others calling him out for “picking on a kid”.

Hamill is vocally anti-Trump. He recently offered Trump grammar tips and retweeted a satirical New Yorker cover of Trump with Rudy Giuliani which he hashtagged #MafiaDon.

Last Friday, Hamill retweeted one of Trump’s posts in which the American president captioned climate change activist Greta Thunberg’s impassioned UN speech in which she took political leaders to task. In the video, Thunberg said, “How dare you? You have stolen my childhood with your empty words...People are suffering, people are dying, entire ecosystems are collapsing. We are in the beginning of a mass extinction and all you can talk about is money and fairytales of eternal economic growth.”

President Trump retweeted the video and sarcastically commented, “She seems like a very happy young girl looking forward to a bright and wonderful future. So nice to see!”

In response, Hamill addressed Trump, “You seem like a desperate old man terrified of being held accountable for your actions and certain that history will judge your 'presidency' as the worst in our nation's history. So satisfying to see!”

The Trump administration is currently mired in controversy following a leaked transcript of President Donald Trump’s phone call with Ukranian President Volodymyr Zelensky. In the phone call, Trump asked Zelenskiy to investigate the son of his political rival Joe Biden and his dealings in Ukraine.

After the document was released, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced that they would be opening an impeachment enquiry with Pelosi saying Trump's alleged actions were a "betrayal of his oath of office, a betrayal of our national security and betrayal of the integrity of our elections."
