Aberdeen have confirmed a deal to keep Jon Gallagher for the season – but the business won’t end there.
The Dons have thrashed out terms with their partner club Atlanta United to extend his existing agreement until May.
The 23-year-old made an impact on loan at Pittodrie in the first half of the season.
Versatile Irishman Gallagher has made 27 appearances for Derek McInnes ’ side in a number of positions.
The deal has been in the pipeline for several weeks after MLS side Atlanta announced an investment in Aberdeen that will also see both clubs come together both on and off the park.
The Dons have already started to help United with their European scouting and that has made Hearts winger Jake Mulraney a £200,000 target.
Gallagher is currently with the Dons in Dubai along with new signing Dylan McGeouch, who arrived from Sunderland earlier this week.
The Dons are also set to sign Ross County ’s teenage midfielder Mark Gallagher.
Aberdeen have identified the 18-year-old as an emerging talent and are trying to thrash out a deal with their Premiership rivals.
The teenager has already made his top-team debut and is seen as a talent that Aberdeen can develop like they did when they took Lewis Ferguson from Hamilton.
