Marist College Canberra has named its new headmaster, with a familiar face returning to the school.
Ryan Greer will take the reins at the school, having been the principal at Lavalla Catholic College Traralgon in Victoria since 2022.
He previously was the deputy head of Marist College Canberra from 2015 to 2022.
Mr Greer said it was a blessing and privilege to have the opportunity to lead the college community.
"It is community I know very well and a community that is rich in both faith and family spirit, and which provides high quality Catholic education for young men in the ACT and surrounding regions," he said.
"I'm looking forward to commencing in the role and reconnecting with Marist students, staff and families."
Mr Greer is taking up the position from the beginning of next year.
He succeeds Matthew Hutchison who has been appointed as the Marist Schools Australia regional director.
Marist Schools Australia national director Dr John Kyle-Robinson said Mr Greer was a highly-regarded Catholic educator and leader.
"He brings a deep understanding of Marist College Canberra, a warm and authentic leadership style, and a strong record of success," Dr Kyle-Robinson said in a letter to the school community.
Under his leadership, Lavalla Catholic College was recognised as one of the state's most-improved Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) schools.
Mr Greer previously was the assistant principal and head of campus at Goulburn's Trinity Catholic College and was a head of house and year co-ordinator at St Edmund's College Canberra.
His areas of teaching are religion and English.
Liam Stakelum will be acting head of college for term 3 and 4.
The independent boys school has experienced sustained growth in recent years.
The school population has grown almost 9 per cent in the past five years with 1886 students enrolled as of February 2026.
The school enrols boys from years 4 to 12.
