Mario Gotze makes transfer declaration amid shock Arsenal link

Mario Gotze has responded to transfer speculation by stating that he is paying little attention to rumours over a potential move to Arsenal.

The World Cup winner has been linked with a shock summer switch to The Emirates.

Gotze has just one year left on his Borussia Dortmund contract, having inked a four-year deal in 2016 following three seasons with Bayern Munich.

And there have been suggestions that Unai Emery could look to land a cut-price deal this summer, for a player who rediscovered form and fitness last term, after a difficult period.

The arrivals of Julian Brandt and Thorgan Hazard mean that Gotze won't necessarily be first choice for Lucien Favre next season however.

Nevertheless, he is not focusing on a potential move anywhere else right now.

"I always hear these rumours, they come up every year," declared Gotze, speaking to DAZN when asked about speculation.

"Everyone has their value and the club has to decide who fits where."

When asked about potentially extending at the Westfalenstadion he added: "I have a year on my contract and I am comfortable in the Bundesliga.

"I am very relaxed, I wanted to play a reasonable season, contributing with my performances and focusing on myself was important for me."

BVB sporting director Michael Zorc declared last week that the Bundesliga runners-up are hoping Gotze will sign a new contract.

“We have heard rumours from England for years," Zorc told Sport Bild. "As always, we are relaxed.

"Mario Götze has not approached us with a request to move. We are enjoying good exchange with Mario's father and his advisor.

"At the beginning of the new season, we will sit down together."
