Marina Granovskaia is close to completing Frank Lampard's second Chelsea transfer mission

Chelsea's defeat to Arsenal in the FA Cup final has given Blues head coach Frank Lampard a clear indication that he must strengthen his squad this summer.

The west London side finished fourth in the Premier League and reached a domestic final, but their Champions League last-16 first-leg humbling by Bayern Munich shows there is still work to be done to bridge the gap to Europe's elite.

The Blues have already started in earnest, with two arrivals to add vital quality to Chelsea's attack.

Striker Timo Werner and playmaker Hakim Ziyech have joined from RB Leipzig and Ajax respectively, and talks to bring Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Kai Havertz to Stamford Bridge are also underway.

But Chelsea boss Lampard is also keen to add fresh faces to his backline, with a new goalkeeper on his agenda.

Reports claim Lampard has lost patience with first choice goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga and once the Havertz deal is completed, the Blues will turn their attention to signing a new number one.

Manchester United's Dean Henderson has been linked, with the Blues reportedly ready to double the England under-21 international's wages in order to lure him from Old Trafford.

The 23-year-old goalkeeper has enjoyed a highly successful two years on loan at Sheffield United, playing a key part in their promotion to the Premier League - and this season, their surprise challenge for European places.

Henderson's contract at Manchester United runs out in 2022, but according to The MEN, the player is only willing to return to Old Trafford if he is assured of a first team place, rather than to compete with David de Gea.

Along with a potential new goalkeeper, football.london understands Lampard is also eyeing a new left-back, with Leicester City's Ben Chilwell one of several targets, along with Ajax’s Nicolas Tagliafico and Atalanta’s Robin Gosens.

But the England international's price tag could prove prohibitive, with the Foxes reportedly demanding £80million for Chilwell.

This has seemingly led to Chelsea looking elsewhere, and according to ESPN, Chelsea have entered negotiations for Real Madrid left-back Sergio Reguilon.

The reports claim the Blues are closing in on the player with talks now at an ‘advanced stage’, and the defender is keen on a move to Stamford Bridge.

Reguilon has spent the season on loan at Sevilla, with his impressive displays helping the club to finish fourth in La Liga.
