Marina Granovskaia identifies two more Chelsea signings as Timo Werner plans could change

Here is the Chelsea digest on Sunday, September 6.

Pulisic could force Lampard into changing Werner plans

Christian Pulisic could force Chelsea boss Frank Lampard to alter his plans surrounding new signing Timo Werner, as Rob Guest writes.

Pulisic hurt his hamstring in last month’s FA Cup final defeat to Arsenal, and it remains unclear whether he’ll be ready for the trip down to Brighton & Hove Albion in just over a weeks’ time.

Lampard has a few players he can pick to play on the left wing, including Werner, who has recently signed from RB Leipzig.

When Kai Havertz could join up with the Chelsea squad

Werner is predominantly a centre-forward but has been shifted out wide on occasions, and if the USA winger does miss out - we could see Lampard play Olivier Giroud through the middle and the German on the wing.

Havertz can take Blues quartet to next level

Chelsea’s latest signing Kai Havertz can take the Blues quartet of himself, Hakim Ziyech, Pulisic and Werner to the next level, as Rob Guest explains.

The arrival of Havertz must have relieved Chelsea supporters after months of speculation over the German international’s future.

The addition of the 21-year-old means Lampard could play with a frightening front four of Ziyech, Havertz, Werner, and Pulisic next season - enough to give any defender a scare.

That quartet could be the next step for Chelsea, as they look to somehow close the gap between themselves, Liverpool, and Manchester City.

Granovskaia decides on next two signings after Havertz deal

Now that Chelsea have finally confirmed Havertz as a Blues player, Marina Granovskaia has decided on the club’s next two signings, as George Smith writes

Lampard has effectively carried out a summer transformation at Stamford Bridge, with Havertz, Ziyech, Werner, Thiago Silva, Malang Sarr and Ben Chilwell all putting pen-to-paper.

Now, it’s clear that the Blues need a new goalkeeper and that should be Granovskaia’s next area to address.

The form of Kepa Arrizabalaga last season has clearly triggered Chelsea, with a host of other shot-stoppers being linked.
