Marcus Rashford to join up with England squad before Manchester United striker undergoes injury assessment

Marcus Rashford is due to report for England duty on Monday morning before being assessed for a shoulder injury.

Rashford was hurt in Manchester United's 3-1 win over Everton on Saturday but he was deemed fit to travel to St. George's Park by the club's medical staff.

If the forward is ruled out of the triple-header against the Republic of Ireland, Belgium and Iceland, he could be replaced in the squad by Leeds's Patrick Bamford, who scored a seventh League goal of the season in Saturday's defeat by Crystal Palace.

Bamford was name-checked by Gareth Southgate last week but Callum Wilson and Leicester's Harvey Barnes are also in contention if Rashford pulls out, with the England boss having decided that Mason Greenwood would be best served by remaining with United for the fortnight.

Liverpool's Trent Alexander-Arnold has already withdrawn from the squad after suffering a calf injury against Manchester City, with Southgate set to decide whether to call-up a replacement after assessing his remaining 28 players.

England's fixture against Iceland on November 18 is in doubt because of the UK Government's new travel ban on non-UK visitors coming from Denmark.

Iceland are set to play the Danes in Copenhagen three days before facing England at Wembley and the Government has said there will be no exemptions from the ban following an outbreak of a new strain of Covid-19 in Denmark.

Brentford duo Henrik Dalsgaard and Mathias Jensen have not joined up with the Denmark squad ahead of their friendly against Sweden on Wednesday, while Tottenham midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg will also miss the upcoming matches.
