Marcus Rashford injury leaves Man Utd boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer standing his ground

Marcus Rashford is set to withdraw from England's 2022 World Cup qualifiers – IF he misses Sunday's FA Cup quarter-final at Leicester.

The 23-year-old striker limped off during Manchester United's 1-0 Europa League win against AC Milan in Italy.

He is rated doubtful for the cup clash at the King Power Stadium.

United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer insists if Rashford isn't fit to face Leicester he won't be allowed to join up with England for their World Cup triple header.

That would be another big injury blow for Three Lions boss Gareth Southgate.

The England chief is already missing key players Jordan Henderson, Jack Grealish and Borussia Dortmund attacker Jadon Sancho for the games against San Marino, Albania and Poland.

Rashford suffered an ankle injury in the recent derby win over Manchester City.

And although his latest injury hasn't been specified, Solskjaer says it's touch and go whether he'll be fit to help United reach another Cup semi-final.

“I don’t know to be honest. He struggled a little bit in Milan and came off so he’s doubtful for Sunday, but we hope he will be okay," says Solskjaer.

“As for England I don’t know.

"Of course, if he can’t play for us then it is more difficult to go and travel with England because then the injury is more serious than just a day or two.”
