Marco Tilio to Celtic transfer latest with 'two hurdles' left before completing move

Marco Tilio to Celtic has edged closer with just two hurdles to overcome, according to a report.

The Hoops are believed to have agreed a fee with Melbourne City to sign the Australian striker as Brendan Rodgers ramps up his recruitment. Odin Thiago Holm has already arrived from Valerenga on a long-term deal and he could be soon joined by a further new team-mate. The Daily Record report only personal terms and a medical stand in the way now.

The Scottish champions currently have star man Kyogo Furuhashi and Oh Hyeon-gyu in the striker department and Rodgers wants to add a further reinforcement to his options as they bid for further domestic dominance and make a splash on the Champions League.

Tilio is a wanted man and has scored ten goals in 31 appearances for his club. He's used to winning silverware with three A-League titles to his name already. Once with Sydney FC and twice at current club Melbourne City.

Speaking about the capture of Norwegian midfielder Holm - as he looks to quickly follow it up with the addition of Tilio - Rodgers said: “We are delighted to bring Odin to the club and to secure his signing so early in the window.

“He is a player who has been in the club’s scouting and recruitment system for some time.

"I have looked at him closely and believe he is someone who can make a big impact at the club.

'I have spent time already with Odin, he is an ambitious, exciting young player and I know he is delighted to be joining us.'

“He is a great addition to the quality squad we already have and we really look forward to working with him.”
