Marc Jurado signs first professional Manchester United contract

Manchester United youth defender Marc Jurado has signed his professional contract with the club.

The 17-year-old defender has agreed on a new long-term deal after he joined the club from Spanish giants FC Barcelona last summer.

Jurado rejected a three-year contract offer from Barcelona last year meaning United only had to pay the Catalans a small compensation fee for his signature.

The young right-back, who only turned 17 earlier this month, has featured heavily for United U18s since he joined last summer and could win the U18 Premier League title in his debut season.

United sit three points clear of rivals Man City and Liverpool with two matches left of the campaign, although City still have two games in hand on their fierce rivals.

Taking to social media on Tuesday afternoon Jurado celebrated news of his new deal and thanked all of his close friends for their support since moving to Manchester.

"Delighted to have signed my first professional contract with @manchesterunited," the teenager wrote. "Also I would like to thank all my family, my friends and everyone for all their support."

Jurado becomes the latest United youngster to sign a new long-term deal for the club following in the steps of academy talents Teden Mengi, Shola Shoretire, Hannibal Mejbri, Anthony Elanga and Zidane Iqbal who have all inked new deals this calendar year.
