Map reveals most popular routes for Edinburgh's Just Eat bike hire scheme

Edinburgh's first bicycle hire scheme launched last year, and since then a growing number of visitors and residents have been taking the Just Eat bikes out for trips in the capital.

After they launched in September 2018, hundreds of the bikes have been available to rent via the scheme's app, with more hire stations being added as it grew more popular.

The operators have now revealed which routes are the most popular for the bikes, using the GPS tracking each bike is fitted with.

The thicker white lines show the more popular routes, and you can see many of them follow streets in the city centre.

A few stretch further afield though, at least one intrepid cyclist seems to have taken one out to Cramond Island.

In the month of June there were 10,596 trips  made by 3,570 individual people using the bikes.

The most popular hiring locations were at Newkirkgate, Portobello and Canonmills.

The hiring point were rolled out to more locations in June, including  Edinburgh Zoo.
