Manuel Pellegrini ashamed of West Ham's FA Cup exit as AFC Wimbledon stun Premier League rivals

West Ham manager Manuel Pellegrini was ashamed by the first half performance of his side during the FA Cup defeat to London rivals AFC Wimbledon on Saturday night.

The Hammers, with little to play for in the Premier League, were knocked out of the Cup by League One's bottom side at Kingsmeadow having been outplayed throughout.

Goals from Kwesi Appiah and Scott Wagstaff saw them 2-0 down at the break, when the Chilean made three changes ahead of the second half, only to see the hosts go three ahead within a minute of the restart, as Wagstaff added his second.

Goals from substitutes Lucas Perez and Felipe Anderson brought the deficit back to just one before the Dons added a fourth late on through 19-year-old Toby Sibbick.

"Was I angry at half time? Yes of course. I was ashamed of them," Pellegrini said. "You always want to win but you must reflect that in your attitude not just in your mind," he added.

"Not one player will go inside the pitch to try and lose. We have a lot of experience in this type of competition where the lowest team plays 100 per cent with attitude and the big team think they are going to win because they have more names."

The focus in east London will now sit solely with the Premier League. West Ham, who travel to Wolves on Tuesday, sit three points off seventh-placed Watford.
