Manslaughter charge laid over mystery death of man wrapped in blankets

A man has been arrested and charged with the manslaughter of Adrian Trett, who was found unconscious and wrapped in blankets on a South Australian street almost two years ago.

Mr Trett, 45, was found on David Street at Mannum in the Murraylands early on April 23, 2018. He had suffered a serious head injury.

He was taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital in a critical condition and underwent surgery, but he did not regain consciousness and died less than a fortnight later.

Police launched a homicide investigation the following month and today arrested a 50-year-old Mannum man, who has been charged with manslaughter.

Mr Trett was unemployed and had been living in Adelaide's southern suburbs before moving to Mannum.

He was married and had grown-up children but was estranged from his wife, police said.

Police previously released images of the blankets that Mr Trett was found wrapped in, next to his motorbike.

Investigators also seized a mobility scooter believed to have been used to move Mr Trett to the spot he was later found.

They said they did not believe he was injured in David Street.

He had been living in a house on nearby Asmus Street, they said.
