IMPHAL: Manipur governor La Ganesan on Friday said that there will be no development on any front if people do not cooperate with the government.
Speaking at an interaction programme held at Machi High School in Tengnoupal district’s Machi subdivisional headquarters , he said that, “we as concerned citizens, of this country, are responsible to contribute and cooperate to societal development”.
“A number of developmental programmes have been implemented by the Centre and the state government is also working in line with the Centre,” the governor said, adding that hardship has been faced by people in many parts of the state and it should be addressed at the earliest.
Insisting that every subdivision should at least have a hospital for proper healthcare, the governor asked the district authorities concerned to look into the issue. Ganesan also assured the people that action will be taken to build all-weather roads for easy access. Expressing concern over the increasing drugs haul in the state, the governor warned those involved in the crime, and asked people involved in poppy cultivation to stop it immediately. The drug menace has become a great challenge nowadays, he added.
Ganesan appealed to the people to get Covid-19 vaccination and enrol for Aadhaar for identification. Earlier, civil bodies and village chiefs of Machi and adjoining villages submitted memorandum to the governor, and urged him to take prompt action on many issues including health, education, infrastructure and connectivity.
