Manchester United vs Leicester City as it happened: Paul Pogba and Luke Shaw hand Jose Mourinho opening win
World Cup winner Paul Pogba's third minute penalty and a late goal from Luke Shaw gave Manchester United a 2-1 win over Leicester City at Old Trafford in the opening game of the Premier League season on Friday.
Pogba, fresh from his triumph in Russia with France but also the subject of recent transfer speculation, was named captain by manager Jose Mourinho and took responsibility for the penalty after a handball by Daniel Amartey, slowly shuffling up before beating Kasper Schmeichel.
Leicester responded well though with new signing James Maddison forcing a fine save out of United keeper David De Gea as the visitors gave Mourinho's side plenty to think about.
But seven minutes from the end full-back Shaw scored his first goal in professional football, firing home after a exchange with Juan Mata.
Jamie Vardy pulled a goal back for Leicester in stoppage time to give them some reward for a good performance against last season's runners-up.
Schmeichel goes up for a corner and gets his head to it, but he can't quite steer the ball on target. Manchester United earn three points and are off and running. Leicester showed plenty of promising signs, but left their push a little too late.

What a moment for Luke Shaw! His first ever senior goal. It comes when Juan Mata floats a pass for his charge into the box, and the full-back flicks it over his marker before volleying into the far corner. A tidy finish.
79 min: Amazing save! Sanchez steals the ball in the box and feeds Lukaku who must score, but somehow Schmeichel's trailing foot deflects the ball up and on to the roof of the net.
77 min: De Gea is called into action, saving Gray's volleyed effort from close-range. Edgy, nervy final 15 minutes to come. Fred is replaced to a standing ovation, with Scott McTominay coming on. Fred worked hard and was all action, without doing anything especially eye-catching.
74 min: Shaw gives the ball away sloppily to groans from the Old Trafford crowd, but the ball runs away from everyone and off the pitch as Leicester surge forwards.
62 min: Iheanacho chases a throughball and nearly gets in on goal, but he's well shepherded by Bailly. Changes: Ghezzal, the new signing from Monaco, replaces Amartey. James Maddison is replaced by Jamie Vardy.
60 min: Sanchez flops a terrible throughball in between the two runners in red. Neither side look capable of stringing enough together to score a goal here.
49 min: Rashford sends the ball 20 yards past Demarai Gray, setting up a thrilling mini race in the middle of this football match. It's won by Rashford, who wins a corner for his efforts, but it comes to naught.
The match is tonight: Friday 10 August, with kick-off at 8pm at Old Trafford.

Team news
Both sides will make late decisions on whether to include their absent World Cup stars.
For Manchester United that means late assessments of Ashley Young, Jesse Lingard and Marcus Rashford. Antonio Valencia, Marcos Rojo, Diogo Dalot, Ander Herrera and Nemanja Matic are all injured.
Leicester will meanwhile decide whether to gamble on the fitness of Maguire and Vardy.
