Man Utd vs Everton LIVE!
Manchester United won the second edition of the Premier League Summer Series with a 2-2 draw against Everton in Atlanta, Georgia. Bryan Mbeumo impressed on his debut for the Red Devils as he started alongside fellow new recruit Matheus Cunha for the first time, while Mason Mount shone off the bench to highlight the strength in depth of Ruben Amorim’s squad.
United took the lead thanks to a Bruno Fernandes penalty, which was won by Amad Diallo, who got the wrong side of James Tarkowski, who was making his first start for over three months. That wasn’t before Jake O’Brien gave United a mighty scare as he crashed the post from a rebound after James Garner’s free-kick was parried into a dangerous area by deputy goalkeeper Altay Bayindir. Everton were level as Iliman Ndiaye popped up unmarked at the far post to guide home Idrissa Gueye’s delicious cross, and the two sides went in all square at the interval.
The game was more measured in the second 45 with Mbeumo off the pitch, but it was one of his competitors for those two No10 positions, Mount, who took his chance as he curled in a superb effort to reinstate United’s lead. Everton equalised in bizarre fashion as Fernandes and Ndiaye were caught in a scuffle on the halfway line, but play continued as substitute Tyler Onyango drove down the right, and his cutback was turned into the United net by a combination of Ayden Heaven and Amad Diallo.

Manchester United 1-1 Everton

Manchester United 1-0 Everton
22:40 , Oli Gent39 mins: United have been the better side here, but the game has been very bitty. Everton are committing those small, cynical fouls that do start to add up over time. Can United remain unfazed?

Manchester United 1-0 Everton
22:35 , Oli Gent34 mins: A nice passage of play from the Toffees there as Iroegbunam teases a ball into the box from the right half-space. It’s too strong for Beto in the middle as the Guinea-Bissau international wrestles with de Ligt, and it just evades Mykolenko as well at the back stick.
Manchester United 1-0 Everton
22:33 , Oli Gent32 mins: Everton have been neat in their interplay in the midfield third, but they need to show a bit more potency in the attacking one.
Will their lack of options and squad depth start to show once more?

22:25 , Oli Gent25 mins: Free kick, United. Cunha shows tricky feet and earns a foul off Garner 10 yards inside the Everton half. He’s started brightly. All of United’s team have.
Manchester United 1-0 Everton
22:25 , Oli Gent24 mins: Wasteful from Alcaraz as he goes for a speculative effort from miles out, but he balloons it high and wide with plenty of passing options available to him. He gets some disapproving looks from his team-mates.
Manchester United 1-0 Everton
22:24 , Oli Gent22 mins: Corner, Everton. The Toffees build nicely from the back as Mykolenko picks up the ball, before Ndiaye tries to get a cross-shot off from the left touchline. It trickles behind off Yoro, and Garner will swing a delivery in, but de Ligt gets his head to it to clear.
Manchester United 1-0 Everton

Manchester United 0-0 Everton

O’Brien looks up and the striker is on his bike, racing clear on goal after United step up to try and catch him offside. The United defence stop, knowing that he’s offside, but the forward scores anyway. Just in case and all that, no?
Manchester United 0-0 Everton
22:15 , Oli Gent14 mins: Free kick, United. That’s the threat Cunha offers as Yoro looks for the cross-field ping over the top for the Brazilian to chase. He does, and the seconds break for Ugarte in centre-field. The Uruguayan is clattered by Idrissa Gueye, who converges on him quickly.
Manchester United 0-0 Everton
22:14 , Oli Gent12 mins: Yoro is furious with Amad at the loose backpass that gets the French defender into trouble. No danger, however, as the ball trickles out off Alcaraz for a goal kick.
Manchester United 0-0 Everton
22:10 , Oli Gent8 mins: Off the post! Blimey! Garner sends a low, dipping effort towards the bottom corner and Bayindir parries, but it’s straight into the path of O’Brien, who must score the rebound....! But no! The Irish defender hits the woodwork, and the ball bounces clear. United escape!

22:10 , Oli Gent7 mins: Free kick, Everton. The Toffees are going a bit more direct, and have a chance to deliver the ball into the box after Ugarte concedes the set piece. James Garner is over this one. It’s a long way out, but will he take this on?

Manchester United 0-0 Everton
22:09 , Oli Gent3 mins: Some early observations for you. Cunha is the spearhead of the United attack, with Mbeumo the right-sided No10. Fernandes is on the left of the attacking midfield duo, and Dalot is at left wing-back. Amad Diallo is off the right, but will be sure to bomb on at every opportunity to support Mbeumo.
Kick off!
22:01 , Oli Gent1 min: We’re underway.
The crowds are growing
21:54 , Oli GentThe attendance in the Mercedes-Benz Stadium has increased exponentially since the first game. Almost as if Manchester United are in town...
The players are on their way out.
Everton line-up analysis
21:45 , Oli GentAs for David Moyes’ side, it seems as though he’s reverted back to a defensive quartet, rather than the three we saw against West Ham.
James Tarkowski returns to the starting XI for his first start in over three months, although there doesn’t seem to be much width in this side.
Jake O’Brien is a natural centre-back playing out at right-back, and although he impressed there last season, he cannot be the only outlet wide right.
Charly Alcaraz and Iliman Ndiaye are the two floating No10s behind the lone striker Beto, so it will be up to O’Brien and Vitalii Mykolenko to get up and down on the overlap with Alcaraz and Ndiaye supporting Beto infield.
In the engine room, it’s legs, legs, and more legs. Idrissa Gueye is the ball-winner, Tim Iroegbunam is the ball-carrier through the lines, and James Garner is the energetic orchestrator, who will look to slip balls into the feet of Ndiaye and Alcaraz, or clip them over the top for Beto to chase and try to stretch the United defence.
Man Utd line-up analysis
21:30 , Oli GentAnd so, here we are.
Finally, Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha play together for the first time in a Manchester United.
The catch, however? There is no natural centre-forward in the attacking trident with them.
Does that mean that one of the two new signings will play centrally, with Bruno Fernandes as one of the two No10s in Amorim’s 3-4-2-1, or will Fernandes play as the focal point, which he has done before?
Either way, we know that Fernandes will not be in the double pivot, with Manuel Ugarte and Kobbie Mainoo both in the selection, while Amad Diallo and Diogo Dalot are expected to be inverted wing-backs, cutting in onto their stronger feet.
As for the back three, Luke Shaw will offer width and an outlet on the left, using his natural full-back instincts, which could mean that Leny Yoro tucks in alongside Matthijs de Ligt to form a central defensive duo when in possession.

Today's venue
20:45 , Oli GentTonight’s stadium will be familiar to those who watched the Club World Cup.
The Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia plays host to the two Premier League sides this evening.
It has a 42,500 football capacity (that’s proper football), and it hosts NFL team the Atlanta Falcons and Atlanta United of the MLS.

Standard Sport prediction
20:30 , Oli GentMomentum should play a factor here, and it is Manchester United who currently have it with them.
Amorim’s side are two wins from two Stateside, while Everton have lost both their games on tour so far.
That being said, the Toffees won’t be beaten easily in Atlanta, so expect some resolute defending from them - typical of a David Moyes team.
However, United should have too much star power for them. It just remains to be seen how strong Amorim will go.
Man Utd to win, 3-0.
Everton team news
20:15 , Oli GentAs for the Toffees, James Tarkowski returned from over three months out in the defeat by West Ham last time out.
