Manchester United players arrived as early as six hours before their match against Liverpool to avoid any disruption to the match.
Protesters outside Old Trafford caused the original fixture to be postponed 11 days ago and Manchester United have made several changes to their matchday protocol to prevent any repeat.
United's staff and players usually report to The Lowry Hotel before home matches but players drove themselves to the stadium on Thursday afternoon, after fans targeted the hotel previously.
The Manchester Evening News, report that two team coaches embarked on fake trips to the Lowry in an attempt to confuse any protesters aiming to cause disruption.
Mason Greenwood, Edinson Cavani and Bruno Fernandes were all pictured arriving at the ground in their own cars, whilst Sky Sports also reported that the players had their evening meal at the ground inside the executive boxes.
Outside the ground, there is huge police presence, with riot vans and horses also outside the stadium to prevent any mass brawls between supporters and police.
Prior to the match, United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had urged fans to allow the match to take place undisturbed.
“Security measures are being looked at, of course, and I hope that we can keep the protests - if there are protests - down to loud voices, nothing violent,” Solskjaer said.
“We want to listen. The players want to play the game. We play Liverpool. Of course we want to beat Liverpool... So, we’re going to do everything we can for our fans to celebrate what we’re doing on the pitch.”
