Manchester United told to do ‘morally correct’ thing over Dean Henderson transfer dilemma

Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder has warned Manchester United to do the "morally correct" thing and allow Dean Henderson to see out the season with the Blades.

United goalkeeper Henderson is on loan at Sheffield United until the end of the season – but his spell at Bramall Lane is due to end on June 30.

That could become a problem if the Premier League presses ahead with plans to continue the campaign into July.

Sheffield United are serious contenders for a Champions League spot, and will move above Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side into fifth place should they win their game in hand.

United could chose to recall Henderson in line with the initial agreement - severely denting Sheffield United's push for Europe in the process - but Wilder has warned the bosses at Old Trafford against it.

Wilder said: “It’d be morally correct to leave him playing at Sheffield United for the last ten games of the season.

“Although we all know that because of the legalities and the situation regarding expiry of loans, United might take that decision.

“But we’re not a threat to Man U so I’m sure they’ll be quite happy with the players that they’ve got to see them through the season. The Ford Fiesta ain’t going to get past the Ferrari!”
