Manchester United told Jadon Sancho won't come at knock-down transfer fee after coronavirus shutdown

Manchester United have been warned Borussia Dortmund remain in a "strong financial position" despite the economic uncertainty brought about by the coronavirus pandemic.

Football finance expert Keiran Maguire says the Bundesliga club will be able to resist significant offers this summer with Jadon Sancho expected to seal a move away from Westfalenstadion.

United have been monitoring Sancho for some time and are expected to win the race for the England international this summer.

Dortmund value him at around £120million and hope Chelsea's interest can spark an auction for their prized asset.

But United have been assured Dortmund will not sell Sancho on the cheap, with the financial stability of both clubs expected to drive up the player's price-tag.

Maguire told the Express: “You’ve got to look at it on a deal by deal basis.

“First of all Manchester United have a strong balance sheet, they had £100m in the bank at the end of December, I appreciate that since then they have signed Bruno Fernandes.

“But even so Manchester United are very successful, they’ve got great commercial revenue generation so I think they are in a strong position to buy then you’ve got to look at the individual position of the clubs that are selling.

“Dortmund, I think will be in a relatively strong position to resist offers, or resist the first offer.”
