Marouane Fellaini believes Manchester City will not be able to finish the season unbeaten, insisting the gap between Manchester United and their city rivals isn’t as big as some suggest.
City have picked up 32 points from a possible 36 with only draws away to Liverpool and Wolves denying them a perfect start to their Premier League title defence.
United were swatted away in their attempts to halt Pep Guardiola’s side before the international break with City now leading their neighbours by 12 points after 12 games played.
But when asked if that result underlined the difference in class between the two sides, Fellaini told Sky Sports: "I don't think so.
"I remember when I arrived in England it was a top four, now it is a top six, so every year it is more difficult.
"Next season we will see how it changes and in two and three years I think every year it is more difficult, the intensity is higher, so that's why the Premier League is attractive.
"Manchester City are strong, but I think they will lose. Ok, they are very good and they have good players but it's possible to beat them. We lost, but we have the second game at Old Trafford and we will see."
