Manchester United's Victor Lindelof training with another club

Manchester United's Victor Lindelof has begun training with his former team in Sweden as the seeks to maintain his fitness.

The defender was given permission to train with Vasteras SK by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and linked up with the club he represented from 2007 to 2011 on Wednesday morning.

He returned to Sweden and his home town of Vasteras once the Premier League season was suspended and is expected to continue training with the second-tier side while he is still able to do so.

Lindelof contacted his former club to ask if he could train with them and was given the green light by VSK and Solskjaer, who is keen to see his players stay fit while the 2019/20 season is on hold, writes the Manchester Evening News.

Sweden's Superettan season should have begun this weekend but has been suspended due to the Coronavirus pandemic. However, the country is not in lockdown, despite a rising death toll that now stands at 695, which means clubs can continue to train as normal.

Prime Minister Stefan Löfven has asked people to take individual responsibility to slow the spread of the virus, with only the most vulnerable told to self-isolate.

United had initially pencilled in plans to return to training at Carrington later this week, but those were shelved when the season was suspended, with the UK still in lockdown until Easter Monday at the earliest.

Solskjaer's players had been given individual fitness routines to follow to maintain standards while away from the club, but Lindelof has been able to benefit from training with a professional team and is set to continue with that approach.

Lindelof has often returned to his home town when time allows and has regularly been back to watch his former club play.
