Manchester United on worst run of form for 18 years

Manchester United are on their worst run of form since 2001.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's men have lost five of their last seven games in all competitions and haven't won an away game since their comeback against Paris Saint-Germain on March 6.

United's only victories since the one in Paris have come at home to Watford and West Ham, both with unconvincing performances and both by two goals to one.

The last time United were on a run of five losses from their previous seven matches was in 2001. United lost four of their last six games in all competitions at the back end of the 2000-01 season before losing to Liverpool in the Community Shield at the beginning of the following campaign.

United begin the most important eight-day period in their season on Sunday as they travel to Goodison Park in the Premier League before hosting City and Chelsea on 24 and 28 April respectively.

Manchester United have already made a mistake with their transfer rebuild

Solskjaer must arrest his side's slump going into the triple header if United are to have any hope of finishing in the top four and qualifying for next season's Champions League.

Speaking after United's loss at the Nou Camp, Jesse Lingard urged his teammates to refocus ahead of the trip to Merseyside.

"Lionel Messi brought his A-game tonight, he's one of the best in the world," Lingard told BT Sport.

"All we can do is move on, it's a big week ahead. We were always underdogs but we had to back ourselves and believe. Chances in these big games are massive.

"Champions League is a big competition and we’re fighting to get back in it."
