Manchester United midfielder Nemanja Matic breaks silence on Solskjaer rift rumours

Nemanja Matic has said there is no issue between himself and Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The Serbia international made his first appearance of the season from the bench against Southampton on Saturday having been an unused substitute against Chelsea, Wolves and Crystal Palace.

Matic, 31, admitted to openly disagreeing with Solskjaer's decision to leave him out of the team but played down any talk of a fall-out with his manager.

"In the first two or three games he (Solskjaer) determined the team without me," Matic told reporters in his native Serbia ahead of their upcoming Euro 2020 qualifiers against Portugal and Luxembourg.

"I work as hard as I can, we respect the decision, it is mine to show him that he was wrong and to bring me back to where I belong.

"There is no problem. I told him I disagreed with him, but that he had to decide the team.

"I have been in football for a long time, I have played almost all the games for all the clubs in the last 10 years.

"In order for me to play, one had to sit on the bench and accept that fact, and so do I now. The coach must opt for the team that will fight for the title, and if he does not win, he bears the responsibility."

Matic appeared to 'like' a comment on Instagram over the weekend that criticised Solskjaer for leaving the former Chelsea midfielder out of the team.
