Manchester United line up vs AZ Alkmaar includes Greenwood, Garner and Williams

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has made wholesale changes to Manchester United's derby-winning team for the visit of AZ Alkmaar this evening.

The United manager hasn't named quite as many youngsters in his starting XI as he did away to Astana at the end of November, but there are starts for Mason Greenwood, James Garner and Brandon Williams.

Nemanja Matic also returns after a recent lay-off.

A win or a draw will secure top spot for United in Group L and ensure they avoid Inter Milan, Ajax, Benfica and Red Bull Salzburg in next Monday's draw for the last 32.

United played Alkmaar on matchday two during a particularly dour run of results for Solskjaer's side in October. That forgettable game ended in a 0-0 draw.

United confirmed on Wednesday that Jesse Lingard would miss tonight's game after picking up a knock in training and he is among a host of regular first-teamers who are not in the matchday squad.

United line-up: Romero; Young, Maguire, Tuanzebe, Williams; Matic, Garner; Mata, Pereira, Martial; Greenwood

United subs: Grant, Jones, Laird, Fred, McTominay, Chong, Rashford
