Manchester United 'learn two rivals' hoping to sign Victor Osimhen and more transfer rumours

Manchester United are reportedly 'knocking on the doors of Napoli' to sign Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen as the Reds look to recruit a new forward in the summer transfer window - but face competition for his signature from both Chelsea and Atletico Madrid.

According to Il Mattino, United are keen on the 24-year-old, who has registered 20 goals and four assists in 24 appearances in all competitions so far this season. It adds that Premier League rivals Chelsea and La Liga giants Atletico Madrid are also interested in the prolific frontman, who it is claimed wants to 'get off the carousel' and settle down somewhere after moving clubs four times in six years.

It is thought that any club looking to sign Osimhen will reportedly have to pay in excess of the €140m asking price. The player is under contract with Napoli until 2025, which means the Italian outfit are under no pressure to sell their talisman. Since he joined the club in 2020, he has scored 48 goals in 86 matches.

The Reds are expected to sign a new striker at the end of the current campaign, with Anthony Martial and Wout Weghorst the only senior forwards at Old Trafford following the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo in November. Marcus Rashford is the only United player into double figures for goals this season.

Elsewhere, Football Insider have reported that United, Arsenal and Tottenham are all battling for Marco Asensio's signature in the summer, with the 27-year-old set to be available for free at the end of the campaign.

The report claims that all three Premier League clubs have been in contact with intermediaries about a potential deal. The Spaniard is out of contract this year and is not expected to stay with Los Blancos.

Asensio has made 17 La Liga appearances for Carlo Ancelotti's side so far this term - registering four goals and three assists during those outings. He has struggled for minutes and has been used predominantly from the bench, with just six of those games coming as a starter.

The Spaniard came off the bench in Madrid's 5-2 thrashing of Liverpool in the Champions League on Tuesday night.
