Manchester United job vacancies at Old Trafford you can apply for now

Manchester United is looking to fill a range of job roles in Greater Manchester. The football club currently has several vacancies across different sectors, with opportunities available in IT, media, and catering.

United – who currently sit fourth in the Premier League table after an impressive turnaround since the arrival of new manager Erik ten Hag – beat local rivals Manchester City in a narrow and contentious 2-1 win on Saturday. But off the pitch, the club is looking for new staff to boost its workforce behind the scenes.

So if you fancy working for the Red Devils, here are some of the roles you can apply for now:

Contact Centre Advisor

£23,000 per annum plus £120 fee per matchday

Manchester United has an opportunity to join its growing contact centre as an advisor, helping fans, members, season ticket holders, and prospective customers with queries around ticketing, membership, and match day updates.

Duties within this role include:

  • Handling enquiries via telephone calls, emails, and face-to-face, which are primarily related to fans and the venue alongside sensitive cross promotion of all product lines.
  • Delivering first contact resolution with all supporter enquiries, whilst ensuring all complaints and areas of supporter dissatisfaction are handled appropriately and to a high standard.
  • Ensuring every interaction with the Club is delivered to the highest standard of professionalism, accuracy and in line with guidelines.

The ideal candidate will have the ability to provide exceptional customer service by resolving queries and complains quickly and effectively. They should also have excellent communication skills, self-motivation, and the ability to work under pressure.

This is a full-time role located at Old Trafford stadium and is predominately based on sociable shift patterns of 8am-4pm and 10am-6pm Monday to Friday, in addition to match and event days.

Applications Service Delivery Manager

The club is looking for a manager to own its Business System Applications strategy to ensure an integrated approach is taken for the long-term development and support.

Responsibilities within this role include:

  • The technical implementation, transition to production and ownership of key shared application services.
  • Planning and making provisions for onboarding new applications from project delivery into operational support.
  • Providing business systems application support across the Manchester United environment.
  • Providing technical expertise to internal business stakeholders and third-party application support teams.
  • Working with key business stakeholders on agreeing on prioritising and managing technical business developments and requirements.
  • Provide key technical expertise, knowledge, and support to other members of the IT Operations Team.

Candidates should be capable of managing, supporting, and acting as the IT business lead for key business applications as required, as well as being technically capable of adapting to new and emerging technologies and initiatives.

They should also be able to demonstrate experience leading an application support teams with technical knowledge of business application architecture and impact on local and hosted and cloud environments.

This is a permanent role based in Manchester.

Freelance Editorial Operations (MUTV)

There is an exciting opportunity to work within the world of football and sports television as a member of United’s media team, as it works to revamp and modernise its editorial operations, including MUTV and its video on demand platform.

Duties within this role include:

  • Helping to plan and produce daily on-air transmission schedules with all programmes.
  • Scheduling commercials, promotions, bugs and bumpers down to the second.
  • Ensuring new programmes in the electronic programme guide (EPG) are highlighted as new, studio guests are added to synopses when booked and all other relevant information is included on match days, themed days, live shows, and more.
  • Sending all schedules and programme changes for the MUTV App schedule as an XML file for the app to update accordingly
  • Producing a project review of departmental processes, including recommendations for innovation and investment.

This role will require some on-call time during evenings and weekends for programme changes or problems in transmission. This requires logging on from home to amend schedules, EPGs and email.

Candidates should ideally have two to three years’ experience in media/TV scheduling, while knowledge of the Zeus scheduling system would be desirable, but training will be provided.

Head of People Services

There is an opportunity to join Manchester United as a senior people leader within its human resources department, translating its People Strategy into excellent operational delivery in the clubs People Service Centre.

Duties within the role will include:

  • Leading, inspiring and coaching the People Services team to provide development opportunities aligned with a career in HR.
  • Creating a procedurally efficient environment in which ingenuity and creativity are encouraged and adopted as cornerstones for continuous improvement.
  • Overseeing the delivery of all transactional People Services for the Club.
  • Ownership of the HRIS provider relationship, monitoring the SLA / KPI provision and ongoing service improvement.
  • Developing a working knowledge and understanding of employment in the international territories Manchester United are present in.
  • Ensuring full compliance with Manchester United governance and delegated authorities.
  • Working closely with the Head of Candidate Experience and talent acquisition team to ensure the seamless process between selection and joining.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience of leading relationships with HRIS providers, ideally with implementation of new digital platforms or modules across organisations. They should also be analytical and comfortable with accurate, time-pressured requests for data and analysis while also being an engaging leader.

This is a full-time role situated in Manchester.

Venue Operations Supervisor

United is adding a new member to its catering team to oversee the day-to-day operation within its Venue Operations department. This will involve ensuring the highest standards of food and service are maintained at all times with effective planning and management of the Front of House team.

Responsibilities within this role include:

  • Planning, setting up and running all United Events functions including staff allocations within budgeted targets.
  • Assisting the Operation Managers in planning monthly labour forecasts for match day and non-match day set ups.
  • Managing a team of up to 20 staff on match day set up ensuring the highest standards are maintained whilst payroll targets are achieved.
  • Ensuring the highest levels of food and service are delivered to all delegates attending events within the stadium.
  • Overseeing the set-up of all matchday hospitality ensuring all suites are set up to the highest of standards.
  • Ensuring any customer or staff complaints are dealt with promptly and efficiently ensuring that any resulting action or reporting is completed immediately.

Previous experience in a fast paced, high volume catering operation would be beneficial, as would a smart appearance and a confident, outgoing persona. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in successful managing a team, praising where justified and taking action where performance has not met required standards.

Street Reds Community Coach – Casual

There is an exciting opportunity to join The Manchester United Foundation’s Street Reds project as a coach. The project uses football to give young people in some of Greater Manchester’s most disadvantaged areas the opportunity to pursue their interest in playing, leading, and coaching the game.

Duties within this role will include:

  • Delivering high quality football coaching in line with the Manchester United Foundation values and identity and Street reds curriculum.
  • Delivering or supporting the delivery of a curriculum of social education workshops.
  • Helping to create a fun and safe Street Reds environment that is inspiring, dynamic, challenging, and educational.
  • Attending staff training and CPD as and when required.
  • Upholding the Foundation’s Safeguarding policy and guidelines to ensure all young people are safe and looked after.
  • To be aware of an uphold risk assessment procedure for each venue worked at including Covid safety guidelines.

Candidates must have a minimum of FA Level 1 in coaching football and a first aid qualification, while a full, clean UK Driving license and youth work qualification is desirable. They should also have experience working with children or young people, while experience working with disengaged young people and in managing confrontation and conflict would also be advantageous.

This is a casual role with working hours on average between two and six hours a week from 5pm onwards, depending on the location. You may be required to travel around Greater Manchester including Bolton, Wigan, Rochdale, Tameside and Stockport.
