Manchester United handed major injury boost as Paul Pogba among four players return for AC Milan trip

Manchester United have welcomed Paul Pogba, David de Gea, Edinson Cavani and Donny van de Beek back into the travelling squad for Thursday's Europa League trip to AC Milan.

Pogba, Cavani and van de Beek have all recovered from injury to be back in contention for selection by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, but will be assessed prior to kick-off.

De Gea is available again after attending the birth of his first child in Spain and self-isolating upon his return, in line with government travel restrictions.

Anthony Martial will not travel with the squad to Milan after picking up an injury in Sunday's 1-0 win over West Ham, while Eric Bailly and Shola Shoretire will also be left at home.

Juan Mata remains sidelined through injury but Amad will join the 21-man travelling party, as United look to secure a place in the quarter-finals.

“There’s a couple we need to assess if they’re available,” Solskjaer said of Pogba, Cavani and Van de Beek.

“Martial is a definite no go. Apart from that we’re assessing them as we speak. Some might travel still needing to confirm that they’re available still.

“They’ve been involved with training let’s see tomorrow if there’s any reaction or not, they all trained yesterday and today and hopefully no reaction.”

Amad's first United goal was cancelled out by a late Simon Kjaer header in a 1-1 first leg draw at Old Trafford last week, which gives Milan a slender advantage going into the second leg.
