Manchester United handed injury boost ahead of Arsenal fixture

Jesse Lingard says he is 'stepping up his recovery' as he nears a return to action for Manchester United.

The 27-year-old midfielder has been missing from the last four matchday squads since being an unused substitute in the defeat by Tottenham at the start of the month.

Lingard is yet to feature for United in the Premier League this season, with his only two appearances for the team coming in the Carabao Cup.

Speaking last week manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer revealed both Eric Bailly and Lingard would be missing 'for a few weeks' as they continue to battle back from injury.

“Eric won’t be available. Jesse won’t be available so we’ll manage without them for a few weeks I think," Solskjaer said.

However, it looks like Lingard could be returning ahead of schedule after he was pictured taking part in a session at the club's Carrington training ground on Friday.

Taking to social media after the session Lingard uploaded a picture of himself in United training gear along with the caption: "Stepping up my recovery #JLingz."

Lingard has fallen down the pecking order at United since the arrival of Donny van de Beek in the summer transfer window, but the Englishman has been named in both the Premier League and Champions League squads for the new season.
