Manchester United great Paul Scholes responds to Roy Keane snub

Paul Scholes said he is 'not bothered' he was left out of Roy Keane's Manchester United teammates' XI.

During a 2013 ITV   programme involving Keane and Arsenal nemesis Patrick Vieira, Keane was tasked with choosing a United team comprised of players he played alongside during his Old Trafford career.

He partnered himself with Paul Ince in central midfield, leaving Scholes, Gary Neville and Ryan Giggs out.

Keane said it was a tough decision to omit Scholes and suggested he would have preferred to partner Scholes with Ince and have left himself out altogether.

In a recent appearance on the official Manchester United podcast, Scholes was asked about Keane's decision and casually responded: "When people name teams, it's a matter of opinion.

"Me and [David] Maysy could sit here all day and pick 10 different teams, the amount of brilliant players that played here, so I wasn't bothered by it. I'm still not bothered by it."

Vieira was asked during the filming of the programme which selection of Keane's he disagreed with and said: "Scholes, no doubt about it, I think Scholes, for me, was the best English player and one of the best United players that I played against. He can do everything."

When it was put to Keane that a lot of the players included in his XI were players who had experienced run-ins with Sir Alex Ferguson in the past, he said: "You don't win league titles by having choir boys in your dressing room and all these boys did challenge their manager in different ways."
