Manchester United fans send clear Harry Kane message after Man City vs Tottenham masterclass

Manchester United fans are calling for their club to sign Harry Kane after his brilliant performance against Manchester City.

The England captain sent a timely reminder to the side that almost signed him last summer as he inspired Tottenham to a huge win against City.

Kane set Son Heung-min away with a superb ball in the build-up to Spurs’ opener at the Etihad, with the South Korea international then squaring to Dejan Kulusevski to slide the ball home.

The striker impressed throughout, and got his reward in the second half as he put the visitors back ahead after Ilkay Gundogan’s equaliser as he turned Son’s cross home from close range.

Kane almost put the game beyond doubt moments later when he looked to have made it 3-1, only for his effort to be ruled out for offside.

His efforts looked to have been in vain when Riyad Mahrez equalised with a late penalty, but Kane popped up once again deep into stoppage time to head home Tottenham's winner.

Kane’s performance underlined just why City had targeted him so intently last summer, and United fans were watching on with interest as the action panned out at the Etihad.

Kane has been linked with a move to Old Trafford previously, and with Ralf Rangnick recently suggesting United need to sign a new striker, fans believe the England skipper would fit the bill perfectly.

Rumours linking Kane with a move to United have been renewed recently, with speculation he could become a target should Mauricio Pochettino be appointed as manager at Old Trafford.

The former Tottenham boss is one of the frontrunners for the job alongside Erik ten Hag, and United fans’ opinions could sway on that front if Pochettino could bring Kane with him. United are long-term admirers of the England striker.
