Manchester United fans react to surprise selection in Carabao Cup fixture vs Brighton

Manchester United fans are delighted to see Diogo Dalot involved against Brighton.

Just four days on from United's 3-2 win over Brighton in the Premier League, the Reds are back at the Amex tonight to compete in the Carabao Cup fourth round.

The starting XIs for both sides are vastly different to the ones that started on Saturday, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer keen to rotate and keep his side fresh ahead of Sunday's meeting with Tottenham Hotspur.

While much of the line up could have been predicted, the inclusion of Dalot in the right-back position comes as something of a surprise given he did not play in any of United's first three games of the campaign.

In fact, Dalot's last game for the club came in the FA Cup quarter-final victory over Norwich City last season and he hasn't started in the Premier League since October 6 last year.

The Portuguese appears to have fallen out of favour under Solskjaer, with Timothy Fosu-Mensah moving above him in the pecking order, and there has been speculation this week that he could leave Old Trafford before the transfer window closes on October 5. AC Milan have been heavily linked.

United starting XI vs Brighton: Henderson; Dalot, Bailly, Lindelof, Williams; McTominay, Fred; Mata, Van de Beek, James, Ighalo.

Substitutes: Grant, Fosu-Mensah, Mengi, Lingard, Pogba, Greenwood, Rashford.
