Manchester United have been linked with a move for Tottenham star Christian Eriksen ahead of Thursday's transfer window deadline.
The MEN understands Spurs are keen for United to make a bid for Eriksen with the north London side desperate to avoid losing the Denmark international on a free transfer when his contract expires next summer.
United , however, are wary of dealing with Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy given his reputation during negotiations, but the Champions League finalists are hopeful a bid will be received ahead of the deadline.
The Dane was in fantastic form for Spurs last season, scoring eight goals and registering 12 assists in the league, as well as helping Mauricio Pochettino's men reach the final of the Champions League. However, he has previously admitted his desire to seek a new challenge after six years in the capital.
With Eriksen's name appearing in headlines just a few days before the transfer window slams shut, United fans have reacted on social media - with many hopeful that chief executive Ed Woodward can pull the signing off.
