Manchester United fans make John McGinn transfer demand after great performance against Tottenham

Manchester United fans want their club to make a move for Aston Villa's John McGinn in January following his impressive Premier League debut.

Despite United wanting to add a midfielder during the summer transfer window following the departure of Ander Herrera for Paris Saint-Germain, they failed to get a signing over the line.

One of the many, many, many names to be linked with a move to Old Trafford was Villa's McGinn, with reports suggesting it would cost £50million for United to sign him.

Fans initially laughed off those rumours as ridiculous but now plenty of them have started to change their minds after watching McGinn's performance against Tottenham Hotspur.

It was Villa's first game back in the Premier League and they had the tough task of facing the Champions League finalists but got off to a great start when they took a shock lead in the 9th minute.

A hopeful ball was sent forward and McGinn ran into the space from deep, showed great intelligence to wait for the defender's tackle to fly past, then slotted a great finish into the far corner.

It wasn't only the goal that was so impressive about the Scott, but his energy, vision, tackling and ability on the ball all caught the eye.

Villa would eventually fall 3-1 as Spurs grabbed three late goals from another debut in Tanguy Ndombele and a double from Harry Kane, but United fans were thoroughly impressed with McGinn and would love to see him in red.
