With the news that Cristiano Ronaldo has won a second Premier League Player of the Month award of the season, fans will be wondering whether or not the news could be a factor in tempting the star to stay at Old Trafford next season and see out the course of his two year deal.
The legendary Portuguese striker has scored 18 goals in 30 Premier League games this season and is four goals away from Mohamed Salah in the race for the Golden Boot. However, fans were shocked on Friday as the news emerged that the forward has missed out on a nomination for Premier League player of the season.
It has been a stellar season personally for the star but the club's league position suggests that the team has not been able to match the former Real Madrid star's high standards. Ronaldo's close friend Miguel Paxiao may have suggested as much in a cryptic Instagram comment when Ronaldo revealed his Player of the Month award.

On the post, his friend commented 'Imagine', with the cryptic message being pointed to by fans as a reference to what could be achieved by the player as part of a different squad. One user 'cristiano.lovely' replied: "He knows what he's doing", suggesting that the comment was a deliberate move to raise speculation as to the striker's future.
Paixao and Ronaldo are close friends, having grown up together in the Sporting Lisbon academy and the pair are regularly seen together on Paixao's social media posts, as well as pictures with Ronaldo's family. These close links add weight to the comment and suggest that Ronaldo's camp could well be of the view that the squad needs strengthening at Old Trafford.
