Manchester United fans have Jadon Sancho transfer theory after Dortmund bombshell

Some Manchester United fans believe Borussia Dortmund's latest statement on the future of Jadon Sancho is another negotiation tactic, using the transfer of Ousmane Dembele to Barcelona as an example.

United have made the 20-year-old their priority target this summer but have been unable to come to an agreement with the Bundesliga side thus far. Dortmund remain bullish on their valuation of their star forward which United view as "unrealistic".

Dortmund set a deadline of August 10 to complete a deal but MEN Sport understands United sources dismissed the date as "meaningless" and "artificial" given the transfer window is open until October 5.

Sancho travelled to Switzerland with the Dortmund squad to begin their pre-season training camp and Zorc reiterated that the England international would remain at the club as well as dropping a bombshell by claiming the winger is contracted to the club until 2023, not 2022.

United supporters aren't fazed by the latest announcement and pointed out Zorc said something similar when discussing Dembele's future at the club prior to his move to Barcelona in 2017. Dortmund insisted the Frenchman would stay but accepted a bid from the Spanish side once their valuation was met.

It's worth noting Dembele actively pushed for the move which means Sancho could be forced to do the same in order to seal a switch to Old Trafford. Nevertheless, some fans on Twitter are remaining confident he will join the club.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was asked about United's interest in Sancho prior to the Europa League win asked LASK but refused to be drawn on the reports.

He said: "We're looking into all transfers differently, I'm not going to speak about individuals that are not our players, so no news, no updates, we'll update you if something happens."
