Manchester United fans 'delighted' for Jesse Lingard after stunning West Ham debut

Manchester United fans were ecstatic on social media after Jesse Lingard scored twice for West Ham United on debut.

The Englishman joined the Hammers for the remainder of the season after falling out of favour at Old Trafford.

Lingard was handed his first Premier League start for over a year by David Moyes against Aston Villa and the 28-year-old rewarded that faith with his team's second goal of the evening.

Tomas Soucek has already put West Ham 1-0 ahead at Villa Park before Lingard doubled their advantage.

Ollie Watkins pulled one back before Lingard added his second of the evening, capping off a fantastic night for the midfielder.

The victory leaves Moyes' side fifth in the Premier League standings as they continue to push for European qualification.

United fans' focus was all on Lingard, though, and they were absolutely delighted to see the academy graduate back in the goals.

After dropping out of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's plans, West Ham have agreed to pay a £1.5million loan fee for his services and will pay his £80,000-per-week wages in full.

"I’m excited," Lingard told West Ham TV after signing last week.

"It’s another new chapter in my life. Nothing is guaranteed but I’ve come here to work hard and help the team and bring my experience.

"That’s the main aim. I just want to enjoy my football and get back playing again and get my feet back on the pitch.

"There were lots of clubs involved but, for me personally, I felt this was the right move. I’ve obviously had a previous relationship with the manager as he was at Man U and I’ve played under him before, so he knows my qualities and what I can bring to the team.

"I know a couple of the players as well – I know Dec [Rice] very well from the England side – and I feel I can really settle in here quickly."
