Manchester United encouraging Bruno Fernandes to copy Cristiano Ronaldo

Staff at Manchester United are encouraging Bruno Fernandes to copy what Cristiano Ronaldo did behind the scenes, the player has confirmed.

Ronaldo used to say hello to staff in the kitchens during his time at Old Trafford and Fernandes has revealed he is being asked to do the same.

Both players came to United from Sporting, in Portugal's capital of Lisbon, with Fernandes admitting that the Juventus star and former Old Trafford icon, is one of his main footballing idols.

“When I arrived at Manchester United, people in the kitchen would say ‘do you know, every day when Cristiano came in he would go around and say good morning to everyone.'” Fernandes told SoccerBible.

“Two ladies come to me every day and say ‘You know Cristiano did that, you need to do the same.’"

Fernandes then opened up on his desire to emulate the on-field achievements of former club greats.

He's made an immediate impact with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side, having not yet lost a game since his January arrival.

He added: “Manchester United are one of the biggest teams in the world. You need to respect the history of a club like this. When you join, you have to think about all those big players who have played there. Eric Cantona, Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes, David Beckham, Cristiano – I could stay here for a long time listing them.

“You need to know that when you come and join a team like this, you have to focus on winning titles. Titles are the most important thing. It doesn’t matter how you play but you have to play to win.

“This is the kind of team that is born to be at the top.

"The expectations I have for Manchester United are big. This is my dream club. But when I arrived I saw just how big it was.”
