Manchester United add Kai Havertz to transfer shortlist and more rumours

Manchester United have added Bayer Leverkusen star Kai Havertz to their summer transfer shortlist, according to reports.

Following two successful transfer windows in succession, United are expected to once again dip into the market so Ole Gunnar Solskjaer can add yet more quality to his side and mount a Premier League title challenge next season.

Solskjaer confirmed that the club were still holding internal discussions about transfer targets despite the suspension of football due to the coronavirus outbreak, with it being understood that the club are looking to bring reinforcements to their attacking ranks.

A creative midfielder and winger are high on the priority list, with Jadon Sancho, James Maddison and Jack Grealish all targets.

However, according to the Evening Standard, Kai Havertz is also on the list.

The 20-year-old is regarded as one of the best young playmakers in Europe and is the youngest player ever to make 100 Bundesliga appearances.

Havertz has 10 goals and eight assists to his name so far this season and it's claimed that United are considering a move, though Liverpool and Bayern Munich have also been heavily linked.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid have reportedly ended their transfer pursuit of Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane, which the Mail on Sunday claim paves the way for Manchester United to swoop.

The paper claims that the La Liga giants have “no intention of joining the race”.

United aren’t prioritising Kane - who could cost as much as £200million - but this is an apparent boost to their chances of signing the England captain.

Kane isn’t a top target, as United focus on their other more attainable targets.
