Manchester's best Indian restaurants join forces for outdoor curry club

Some of Greater Manchester's best Indian restaurants will be joining forces for a one-off, outdoor curry club.

The likes of Bundobust, Dishoom and Lily's will all be serving their favourite signature dishes in a street food celebration this autumn.

The event is part of Manchester Food and Drink Festival's 'Hub Takeover' series, which will see different operators hosting events at the Festival Hub at Cathedral Gardens.

Ticket holders to the MFDF Curry Club will sit down to a huge banquet of vegan and vegetarian food from some of the region's leading restaurants.

Levenshulme's Aunty Ji's, Burnage-based Sanskruti and Lily's vegetarian restaurant in Ashton-under-Lyne will join the city centre's award-winning restaurants Bundobust and Dishoom for a collaboration and celebration of South Asian cuisine.

The MFDF Curry Club will take place on Tuesday September 21 in an under cover, but al fresco, setting.

Each restaurant will be cooking up their own signature dishes on site, street food style.

Dishes will include chaats, Gujariti specialities and amazing sides, finishing off with Lily’s famed handmade sweets.

The Desi Jockeys will provide a soundtrack of Bollywood, Bhangra and British chart music on the night.

For those who can't attend in person, MFDF's headline sponsor Just Eat will curate special offers at Indian restaurants across the region, so people can enjoy a curry in their own home.

MFDF is set to make a big return to the city centre this September after calling off last year's event due to the pandemic.

The festival's heart at the Festival Hub will return to Cathedral Gardens for the second time, after town hall renovations moved it away from Albert Square in 2019.

As well as street food, live music and a beer bar, Festival Hub will host several feasts and other events throughout the festival.

The festival itself will include several fringe events around Manchester as the celebration of the city's culinary scene kicks off between September 16 and 27.

Tickets for the MFDF Curry Club are £40 each, which includes three courses and a welcome drink, and are on sale now at manchesterfoodanddrinkfestival.nutickets.com/CurryClub2021
