Frank Lampard may be able to stay longer on loan at Manchester City if New York City have a January training camp at the champions’ new City Football Academy training complex.

The option of NYC doing so is currently only a possibility but is being explored, with the MLS club also potentially playing some friendlies in the north-west area at the same time.

The MLS season does not start until March, with Lampard currently due to return to NYC towards the end of January.

However Lampard is proving a success at City and was voted the team’s September player of the month due to his impressive form that has featured four goals in three appearances.

Of his extending his stay previously Lampard said: “I don’t know. The important thing for me is to train well, play well if I can, and then see what happens. I signed on here till January so that is all I can say at the minute.”
