Manchester attack: Dramatic video shows armed police storming bomber Salman Abedi's suspected home

Dramatic footage has emerged of the moment armed police stormed the home of Salman Abedi, the suspected suicide bomber behind the Manchester Arena terror attack.

Abedi, who is said to have been known to police and intelligence services, detonated the homemade device at the arena as crowds left an Ariana Grande concert, killing 22 people and leaving 64 injured.

Police raided the home in Elsmore Road, South Manchester, before carrying out a controlled explosion at the scene.

The footage captured by a neighbour shows armed officers filing down the street and around the house next to Abedi’s, before climbing over the fence to the property. Police then blast the front door off the house.

Neighbours told ITV News up to 30 officers were seen in the area and reported hearing a “proper bang” during the controlled explosion.

Ian Rose, who lives next door, told the broadcaster that the home's residents “keep themselves to themselves, they just come and go, during the night”.

He said: “A couple of years ago they moved in during the night and they left again and came back again – it’s pretty much how it’s always been there."

Prime Minister Theresa May has raised the threat level across the UK to critical and activated Operation Temper, which allows military personnel on the streets to aid police resources, for the first time

Police are working to establish whether 22-year-old Abedi was working alone or as part of a network. Officers have arrested three men in connection with the attack in the south of Manchester. It follows the arrest of a 23-year-old man in the south of the city a day earlier.
