Manchester Airport and Liverpool Airport parking costs, offers and best time to book

With many of us now counting down the days until a summer holiday, or maybe some winter sun, it can be handy to know what options are available when it comes to travelling to and from the airport.

Some people get to the airport by public transport, a taxi, or are lucky enough to be dropped off by a generous friend or family member. However, others choose to park at the airport, meaning their car is there waiting for them the second they return.

A lot of people try to avoid this option as it can be expensive, especially if you leave it until the last minute. But last month, Money Saving Expert issued a number of tips and tricks to "slash the cost".

Its advice reads: "Don't just turn up at the airport, booking first, even on the day of your flight, can save you money." It adds that there are also different types of parking such as off-site, which is often cheaper.

You can even find deals that are cheaper than taxis or private transfers.

According to Manchester Airport's website, those who pre-book parking can save up to 77%, and you can cancel for free up to one hour before arrival. The cheapest parking we could find for one week in August was £79.99 at JetParks Ringway.

A nine minute bus transfer to the airport is required for this car park. At Liverpool John Lennon Airport, you can park your car for a week in the multi-storey for £71.99.

The LJLA website adds: "It is possible to reduce the cost of parking by considering your options and booking early. Pre-booked parking at Liverpool Airport allows you to pay beforehand, lock in the price you’re paying and guarantee that you have a space on the day.

"It’s cheaper to pay online, with savings of up to 70% compared to paying on foot when you arrive. It would also be advisable to book early, as doing this can enable you to get the cheapest price possible."
