Man who died in crash involving HGV named by police

A MAN who died in a two-vehicle crash in North Ayrshire has been named as Abraham Torrance.

Police were called to a crash involving a grey Kia Ceed and a white DAF HGV on the A71 westbound between the Corsehillmount Roundabout and Warrix Interchange, near Irvine, at around 11.10am on Thursday.

Emergency services attended Torrance, who was the driver of the car, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

No one else was injured.

Torrance’s family have asked for privacy following his death.

Constable Josh Forrester said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of Mr Torrance and enquiries to establish the full circumstances of the crash and the events leading up to it continue.

“We are asking anyone who can assist with information, including dash-cam footage, to get in touch if they have not already spoken to officers.”

If you can help please contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 1163 of 31 July, 2025.
