Man who breached tagging order now behind bars

A Motherwell man who breached an electronic tagging order has been jailed for seven months.

Anthony O’Rourke, 23, of Watson Street, admitted failing to comply with the order when he appeared at Hamilton Sheriff Court.

The tag had been imposed as an alternative to prison for offences including threatening or abusive behaviour, loitering with intent to steal and breaching a bail curfew.

Sheriff Douglas Brown told O’Rourke: “It has to be imprisonment now. I’ll revoke the RLO and you’ll be jailed for seven months.”

Referring to O’Rourke’s failure to comply with the electronic tag, lawyer Diarmid Bruce said there were “sporadic” incidents when his client had left home at night to put out bins.
