Man Utd urged to complete transfer for "perfect" Arsenal target Yves Bissouma

Manchester United have been urged to swoop in and complete a deal for Arsenal target Yves Bissouma by former player Paul Parker.

The Brighton midfielder has continued to attract admirers after impressing on the south coast.

United have been looking to add a new face in the middle of the park and have been linked with the likes of Edouardo Camavinga and Saul Niguez.

So far though Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has not bought anyone in with the window nearing its closure.

Bissouma has proven himself in the top flight and has become a key cog for the Seagulls.

The Gunners have eyed the Mali international whilst he was also linked with Liverpool.

But Parker believes the 24-year-old is the ideal throwback to a box-to-box midfielder and would be a perfect addition at Old Trafford.

"If Manchester United are going to make one or two signings before the end of the transfer window at least get one central midfield player. I think Yves Bissouma would be perfect," he wrote for Eurosport.

"Get somebody who knows the Premier League, has played really well since he’s been in the Premier League, plays well in big games for his club when they have them coming up and Bissouma comes to mind.

"He’s been doing it week in, week out. He knows the Premier League.

"He is athletic, good with the ball at his feet and he doesn’t seem to want to typecast himself as a defensive midfield player.

"He’s willing to go forward as well and become an attacking midfield player.

"He’s a midfield player from a previous generation when midfield players were called box-to-box. For example Bryan Robson, Roy Keane and Paul Ince."

Solskjaer has already added Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane this summer for north of £100m.

He has several options in midfield and doesn't appear to be expecting any more arrivals.

"Anything from now is a bonus," he said recently.

"I have to say that with the two signings we've got, we've strengthened where we wanted to strengthen.

"Let's see what happens. You never know in football. Anything can happen, ins and outs."

Bissouma moved to Brighton in 2018 from French side Lille.

Last term he made 39 appearances as Darren Potter's side finished 16th, securing a fifth straight year in the top flight.

When questioned on links of a move away for Bissouma last year the Seagulls boss said: “My focus on Yves is how I can help him improve and I think he’s still got some improvement to do.

“That’s my focus with him, to try and help him reach his full potential. He’s got some work to do yet, so that’s what we are focusing on."
